I teach cartooning at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and for the Michigan State University School of Journalism. I am the Comics & Graphic Novelist faculty mentor for the Solstice Low-Residency MFA Program. I was twice a Visiting Professor in Creative Writing at CUNY Queens College, where I taught comics at both the MFA and undergrad level. I was a Master Artist in Graphic Novels at the Atlantic Center for the Arts.

In addition, I have taught comics-making workshops and classes at the Society of Illustrators, the University of Michigan, the Fine Arts Work Center, the College Media Association, the Yale Writers Conference, Albion College, the Johnson County Library, and in international locations like Mexico, Burma, Algeria, Egypt, and Bahrain.
