My pal Dean “Dino” Haspiel is publishing a collection of his semi-auto-bio comix — under the title Opposable Thumbs — with Alternative Comix this summer. Dean honored me by asking me to illustrate the book’s introduction, written by Harvey Pekar. It was like a miniature American Splendor reunion.

Josh to contribute to next American Splendor
PublicityComing April 2001 is American Splendor: Portrait of the Artist in His Declining Years, the latest chapter in Harvey Pekar’s autobiography, music history and societal rants. My contribution is a three-pager featuring Toby Radloff entitled, “Reduction.” This issue also features the artistic stylings of Dean Haspiel, David Collier, Gary Dumm, Joe Sacco & Frank Stack.
And the, some time this summer, will be the full-size edition of R. Walker & yours truly’s Titans of Finance, published by Alternative Comics. Including some of the best strips from the series, the comic features a brand-new cover, three pages of new material, and the acclaimed seven-page Ron Perelman tale. Sure to shake up financial markets everywhere!
