After some mix-ups with shipping, I finally received my X-mas gift from Sari, a set of curio cabinets for the small collection of toys, models, and action figures that I’ve acquired over the years. (Yes, like every other cartoonist on earth, I am at least part geek.)
So with a small amount of fanfare, I mounted one of the cabinets on the wall, and finally was able to create a home for (from top left. reading like a comic) Klinger, Hot Lips, Hawkeye, and B.J., Will Clark and Willie Mays; Boba Fett; Willie McCovey; Jack Clark; some cool Tintin chocolates; super-deformed Wolverine and Superman; the Giants Pontiac Firebird; Tintin, Snowy, and Captain Haddock; and Tintin, Snowy, and the Thompson Twins.
They all seem to be adjusting well to their new home.
We need to get you some Micronauts timetravellers in there. Maybe a ‘Zira’ from the Planet of the Apes line that Matel (Tyco?) did in the 70s…
Haw. Yes, it’s true that this is a very 70s-heavy collection. The Giants Pontiac Firebird clinches it. Dates me, I suppose.
To be fair, Will Clark played for the Giants in the 80s and 90s, and those super-deformed dolls are a recent innovation. *Whimper*
What percentage of your toys did not make the cut? And if that percentage is less than 75%, what are the specific toys that didn’t make the cut?
As far as “action figures” go, I would say most of ’em made it in. I’m not really much of a collector. And the ones I do have are definitely not “mint.”
In any case, Supes and Harvey are the only ones who didn’t make it, mainly because they are both too large to fit…
Hey, my girlfriend Barbara just got me a shelf like that also…still need to fill it up though.
Awesome! All droids all the time! Sari wants to know if Barbara had to listen to you complain about not having anywhere to put your droids for 7 years like Sari did about my “figures”?
Ha…no, only about three years of me moaning about it…
